A dream comes true

After a while, the couple returned to San Cassiano to make their dream come true. 

With all their savings, they were able to start building in 1936 the long-awaited hotel in San Cassiano, at that time called Conturines Posta. 

Being among the hotelier pioneers in Alta Badia, Mariangelo was also one of the first to recognize the potential of skiing in Alta Badia and was a pioneer in building a small lift in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.

At the time, he had even asked an acclaimed engineer from Milan to design the first chairlift to Piz Sorega. However, after the tragic deadly accident of his oldest son on a T-bar lift in 1961, he abandoned this dream and concentrated entirely on the hotel business.
