Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar

Just like the three kings from the East once went to Jesus in his manger, so every year at the beginning of the year the 'Three Kings' pass through our country. 

The kings Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, nowadays also called the singers, go from house to house and bring people the message of Jesus birth and wishes for peace and blessings for the new year. At the same time the three kings sing their songs, distribute incense and write with chalk "C+M+B" and the year on the front door of the house. 

The 'C+M+B' is interpreted as the first letters of the names Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar, but it is traditionally taken from the latin words: Christus Mansionem Benedicat ("Christ bless this house").

On this occasion, the three kings also collect some money for certain projects for people in need.
